I have 14' rods. I would get a rod rack of some kind. I made a shelf in my garage to store my rods on when not in use. They are 3 piece poles so to me they are much more of a pain to break down. When I had 12 footers i would break them down, put the hook in the end of the small part of the rod and then hold them together with gear ties. Now that I have 14s I leave them together in the garage and then just move them from the shelf onto the rod rack I installed on my boat. So much easier than messing with assembling them each time. I can sit in my seat at the front of the boat and take them out of the rod rack one by one and place them in the rod holders as I get them ready and baited.

Crappie Jim,
I didn't realize he was talking about Mr Genes awesome rod transport rack. I've been waiting 6 months on release, it's not available yet.
i thought there was another method, just wanted to see it!
Thanks
This is how I transport my 16’ rods. I got absolutely sick of breaking down 8 rods every time I fished. It cost me 20 minutes+ if I was fishing double rigs.

I currently have rod racks made by hitek, works great for keeping poles from cluttering the boat, there up and out of the way. Secondly I travel 1.5-2 hours away to fish Barkley and Kentucky Lakes, travel speed usually around 70 mph and have had no issues. I have 14’ Southern Crappie Rods with only 2 racks. I would look around at several manufacturers and see which style would work for you and your boat

I used to break them down and put in rod box. Now I transport them on the Cumberland racks. Before when keeping them in the rod box would take seem like for ever to get them set-up when starting out on the water.

Here's my setup. No clue why the pics loaded sideways. That spring loaded pin is SS and made for bimini tops. I can pull the one pin at each upright and take them off to put the cover on or loosen the bolts on the hi-tek bases and take the whole base off if I'm not crappie fishing.
Great looking set up, those spring pins are great to use, I'm familiar with something similar. It was the Bimini tops reference that confused me, actually I know nothing about Bimini tops. I've used a similar pin in work holding fixtures in a manufacturing plant.
Thanks for the explanation and pictures.
ive waited 4 months now on Mr Genes new design that Spyderlok or Millenium will introduce any day now.
Once I see it's price, I'll do something.
