We did it!
We fished the Chick above and below Rockahock. Fished 3-17 thru 3-19. Below the dam was slow but being some what of a new be that is not surprising. Above the dam was a different story. Water temp was low to mid fortys on Sat and we did very well on white perch. We kept around 30 between the two of us. No really x-larges but plenty big enough to get a fillet out of. Then we went back to the same area above the dam on the 18th and 19th. Water temps came up 5 plus deg. and we did well,OK very well with 10 plus inch crappie. We kept around 25 each day and released about the same # of slightly smaller fish. Many keepers over a foot long.
On Saturday a guy brought in a largemouth over 9 lbs. Being from Pa that may be the largest I have ever seen. Also got to chat with Captain Conway and Mr. Ed Allen. Being a flyfishermen myself that was a real treat to be in the presence of two great flyfishermen. If anyone wants the location of where we fished Pm me and I will give it to you.
As always thanks soo much for all your help with my Va. fishing needs. And on a lighter note we have about 6 inches of fresh snow when I got home and perhaps another 6 to come. So do not complain if you get a little white stuff also.

Nice report. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Snowing here today. Come on spring!

We were going to come home Wed. ( today ) but left a day early do to possible weather problems. We have around a foot of snow ( right decision ). Living in a warmer section of Pa helps with winter however when the northeaster comes in late winter we get hammered. It is a treat to fish in 5 or 10 deg. warmer temps in spring and that is what I usually find going to Williamsburg area. Also my friend enjoyed the varied vegetation as well as the trees and birds there. Then catching fish just puts it over the top. I wish we only had a little snow Roy! I even had to get my large snow blower out and running! First time this year.

Awesome job. How deep were the crappie in the lake? Thanks

We caught most of our white perch in 10 feet of water. The next 2 days were warmer and most crappie were in 10 feet and as shallow as 6 feet. Most of the crappie we caught had fairly mature eggs in them. We used 1/8 ounce jigs and minnows under a bobber when we got tired of casting.
