We did it!
We fished the Chick above and below Rockahock. Fished 3-17 thru 3-19. Below the dam was slow but being some what of a new be that is not surprising. Above the dam was a different story. Water temp was low to mid fortys on Sat and we did very well on white perch. We kept around 30 between the two of us. No really x-larges but plenty big enough to get a fillet out of. Then we went back to the same area above the dam on the 18th and 19th. Water temps came up 5 plus deg. and we did well,OK very well with 10 plus inch crappie. We kept around 25 each day and released about the same # of slightly smaller fish. Many keepers over a foot long.
On Saturday a guy brought in a largemouth over 9 lbs. Being from Pa that may be the largest I have ever seen. Also got to chat with Captain Conway and Mr. Ed Allen. Being a flyfishermen myself that was a real treat to be in the presence of two great flyfishermen. If anyone wants the location of where we fished Pm me and I will give it to you.
As always thanks soo much for all your help with my Va. fishing needs. And on a lighter note we have about 6 inches of fresh snow when I got home and perhaps another 6 to come. So do not complain if you get a little white stuff also.
