As long as you are vertical jigging, or even long-lining by stripping line out off the reels it should be okay. I bought some 8# viscous fluorocarbon last year to fish a clear lake here locally. The memory on the line is absolutely horrible, it's a nightmare when trying to cast an retrieve as far as tangles and such. Matter of fact bought some 4# Hi viz mono to replace the 8# fluoro today and will be re-spooling all the reels I have that line on them here after while. I can say with confidence that it did not work for me and my needs based on my personal experience, I would probably stick with the 4# mono or may try 6# or 8# if snags and line breaking is an issue.

I use hi viz most of the time, I haven’t seen it negatively effect bite on clearer lakes. That being said, I don’t fish super clear stuff all that often. I would think you should be ok. I dont like fluorocarbon much either. Used it in my bass days and it was a pain.

Only thing that stuff is good for is leaders. Far as everyday fishing line it is a mess to deal with. Like Mo I tried it years ago bass fishing and it was a nightmare.

Decided to give it a go when Ronnie Capps said it(p-line fc) was on all his jig poles . More to do with the low stretch feeling the bite, I think . Tippah like Bay springs smaller is better . I use Stren normally in 4-6 mono for casting ultra-lite bream baits .

If you want cast ability or felling the bite, spool up with some 8/2 braid and a 2-3 ft leader of fluorocarbon.

The lighter flouro definitely makes a difference in clear water. I used to fish Kemper Lake exclusively. You can have 10-12 feet of visibility in the summer, easy. I wouldn't have dreamed of fishing it with hi- vis.

Flouro sucks for casting, but how much am I casting when spider rigging? None. I never had a lick of trouble out of it when spider rigging. Even though flouro is invisible, I still wish somebody made 100% flouro in hi-vis (p-line makes a flouro coated in hi-vis). Mono doesn't hold a candle to the sensitivity of flouro, period, and also flouro sinks like a rock. It's perfect for spider rigging, but nobody's making it in hi-vis. If they ever do... and word gets out of it being a difference maker...watch out...

Not a fan of fc used to cast, but on single pole dipping there should be a profound thump on a bite .
