Good going Danny. Are you still only running one shrimp light? Was thinking of taking the crew shrimpin this year but I just never got around to getting a second light. Well probably won't get around to going as usual, get caught up in the speck fishing and don't take time to do anything else.

Andy, I run five lights (depends on where I'm going to be) etc.....
They (shrimp) are still a bit thin in numbers, but hope is that they are beginning to increase to where ya can get 1/2 bucket-to-full bucket = we'll see ....
As they say, "Ya got to go to know" ......

I got Greenies and whites. We were using green last year and everybody that had whites were catching them galor, but we didn't even see any in our lights, so, after three trips like that, came home and made up some white lights and Bingo ! ! Caught so many that I could feed the Crappie.com crew, and still had plenty for family get-togethers and give some away, and still I had bunches...
Finally after concerted effort, I managed to eat the last 2 pkg's I had in the freezer, bout two weeks ago.....

Don't know what this year is going to do, actually last year was really weird, they started running really early (November). Now this year is looking like a regular year as far as when they begin to run etc ..... Nobody knows what's happening till they go. Ya just got to commit to a trip.

I was hesitant about going last night, but was also guilt ridden because I hadn't been crappie fishing, cept for going with Vic,Mike and Jeff as their guest, oh, yeah, I went to Harney and never got a bite. I guess it's been nerve racking on me with my motor blowing up (head job)... Then, this goes wrong, then that goes wrong, am shell shocked about leaving the house.....

But RRB is just down the street, so I took a chance and made myself get out, and it was refreshing, and productive .......
Lets see = 80 shrimp/12 ya get in a restaurant dinner (plus potato& salad) = 6.7 shrimp dinners that you'd get in restaurant.
How much a shrimp dinner cost ya at a restaurant??? My overhead was around 1/2 gal of gas (if that) and spending a night dippin and chewing the fat .......

I was draggin this morning when I got up, but have recovered, got boat and gear all put away, will be watching the weather for next good night to go again = they add up .....

Anything I can do to help ya out, just call .......

Hold on there 309. You gotta clean the softshell crab first, lift shell remove guts and deadman fingers put shell back fry and eat. I don't eat guts either, except a few oysters.

    Yep, that sounds better .....
But, seems like I recollect seeing videos (and seen one time at restaurant ) where they just throw em in pot, dump lots of "Old Bay" on em (or was that "Curry Powder") and steam em whole,
then serve em where one has to seperate the good stuff out to eat etc, etc . However, that's hard shell.

Did see a program on TV with that ole Louisiana chef that has shows on the river at different folks back porches etc
and one show they were doing softshells (I don't recall how they prepared them) but seems to be a big deal about catching bunches
of em (softshells) at a certain time of year.

Anyway ..................I always throw softshells back = let em live ...... etc, etc, etc .......
