Look good, I like the length, Can shorten if getting short strikes. You will do fine!!

After years looking through the jig typing forum I've decided to give it a try. I got several items over Christmas and with the bad weather I decided it was time. These are squirrel tail jigs, are the tails to long? Let know what you think, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I’ve never tried squirrel tail. Hose look nice!
Lower left tail is a bit thin for my liking. If you wrap tag end of chenille closer to head and tie well with thread, you can trim it a lot closer to the body. Follow up with a whip finish to secure very end between head and body and you will never see it.
I am just starting to tie also, but I like the looks of the middle yellow one. My son has been promising me some squirrel tail for tying but has not been squirrel hunting yet. He did bring me some buck tail last week to try. Nice jigs, I bet they will all catch fish.
Make sure to get the right kind and there is a lot of good info in the sticky post on this board. The kind of whip finish tools you want is the Matarelli style and not the Thompson!
Squirrel is good stuff and the length shouldn't make any problem at all really. I use tails longer than that in marabou.
FAOL is a fly tying/fishing forum and they also have lessons starting at beginning, then intermediate and finally advanced and you should spend some time there. I mean they tie in chenille and feathers just like we do and just find the patterns they are using the materials you want to use. here is a link if interested Fly Anglers OnLine, Your Complete Internet Flyfishing Resource.
Click on Fly Tying and then Beginning Tying and start there.

Personally I like the bottom left the best as far as amount of tail... a lot of times less is more in my experience but I also tye a lot of threadneck jigs... I would for sure acquire a whip finisher or more than likely the jigs will come apart at the head... those jokers will catch fish! Keep up the good work!

Very nice. Did you have trouble with squirrel being "slick?"
