I certainly do not have the experience(s) that so many on here do have, so consider that when reading my replies. Only about 4-6 months into this. Love it btw. It appears to me that what you may be talking about is that the stem of the 'vee' is not laying directly on top of the hook shaft/shank. I have had issues with that at times too. Experience and learning will help us no doubt. One other thing is that the vee's we cut nearer the tips have a smaller diameter stem and can be easier to keep in place. Those nearer the base are larger and stiffer and can rotate around the shaft on you. Try to get it started and then make sure you are pinching the stack further back to keep everything in alignment. With the smaller ones I usually tie tips and vees all at once, not so much with the bigger ones. The for vee only jigs I try to take care and keep it lined up so the vee tucks up like I want. BUT it doesn't necessarily matter to the fish. I have some that don't look as good as yours that have well over 100 fish on them. I think we can please them easier than we can please us sometimes. I sent Skip and Danny Matthews some pics of nylon jigs that I tied with my Daddy almost 60 years ago. They still work when I have the nerve to use them. They look nothing like what we are tying today. You're doing really good IMO

I have read a bunch of the stuff he suggested. Good stuff. Can’t seem to find anything about hiding the v in the cut. Or do most people just use the end of feathers.

the stem gos to the hook bend. the barbels extend behind the hook. with 4 to 6 v`s the barbels surround the hook. if i use two colors i tie the darker on top. will try to post some pic`s when i get home.
