I always have a few minnows with me just in case. I sometimes cut one up and place a small piece on the hook with the jig.

I'd never have believed it, but try them and tell me what you think.
drfishjd I`ll give nibbles a shot thanks for the info.

I like the Cod Liver Oil capsules. Take one and poke a tiny hole in it with a fish hook. Squeeze a tiny drop on your bait. Never use more then one or two a day.

I went fishing at lake West Point, Ga. last friday and started experimenting with different things, and to my surprise I came across something that really worked well. I mixed some "chum n get it" with some cherry flavored cod liver oil and shad fish scent. Although the water level is very low, I caught 28nice size crappies, and threw several smaller size ones back.

Old thread but since it has been revived, I am really liking the Bobby Garland sauce. Stuff dont come off very fast.

I use 1/2 of a crappie nibble that has been tempered. Tempering helps keep the nibble form falling off the hook.
I also have had some luck with power wigglers. The wigglers are cut into 4 quarters and 1 quarter added to the lure. The small pieces do not distract from the lure action.
I look at it this way, the lure attracts the fish and the added scent seals the deal. No live bait to mess with.
