    Default Taylorsville 12/2 & 12/3 report

I was finally able to get back on the water on Saturday and Sunday. I spent way to much time the last 2 months chasing deer around the woods. But now l have my freezer full I can get back to the important thing in life.( Crappie fishing)

I could not have timed it any better the weather was perfect both days highs in the upper 50’s and no wind. That’s hard to beat for December.
Hit the water a little before 8 on Saturday water temperature was 50 and had just a little bit of tint to it. I thought it was going to be a banner day. I ended up with a limit but had to work for them.
I didn’t have much time to fish Sunday but I had to go and try them again. I fished from 8-1130 and ended up 2 short of a limit.
All fish was caught casting jigs in 15 fow or more and they wanted it just barely moving. The fish was deeper than I expected them to be. Most was deeper than 10’ deep. Some of them thumped it really hard but quite a few I never felt a thing it just got heavy.
It sure felt good being back on the water.

That's exactly what we encountered down in Tenn ... as far as a few thumping the jig, while others just seemed to grab it and sit still ("just got heavy").

When we used to fish Taylorsville in Nov (cold/windy enough for heavy clothing), back when we tight lined minnows ... there wasn't a "hit" (rod tip bounce, then pulled down) as much as there was simply the line moving off to one side. Then in later years, casting jigs from the bank over a downed tree, in Dec & Jan, we got the same "thump" we were used to in much warmer water.
... just goes to show that them Crappies can be finicky, tricky, or just plain ornery when they want to be.

And they have been all three of those this year for me anyway.
