I nolonger see a posting on the Volusia county emergency management PIN updatesabout the St. John's being no wake in Volusia County. Has the no wakerestriction been lifted?

    Thankyou for your time.

    Sheriff Response:

    Concerned Citizen,

There is a legal issue concerning the Sheriffissuing no wake zones. County legal is trying to sort it out.

    Hope this helps,

Looks like the way Volusia County issued the initial no wake zone wasn't legally correct somehow. I would call the Volusia county sheriffs office for clarification if you plan on waking. But the way I read it, you can wake as long as your in Volusia Co waters.

the legality issue of making it no wake is that they really don't have jurisdiction. navigable waterways fall under coast guard I believe. ...there could also be the issue of Monroe splits volusia/seminole, and the dividing line is not explicitly marked, so who's is it to make that call?

    this is all "I think"

My thought is about the home and property owners that would be affected by the wake we might generate. The water is higher than I've ever seen it and if it were at my back door I would hope that those using the waterway would show some consideration for me and the loss it might cause. Just my two cents.

You're exactly right. I saw a little jonboat going down the river in Astor a while back and he wasn't making much of a wake but some of my riverfront neighbors were getting so mad that I was actually worried about the guys safety.

180 grains of copper plated lead traveling about 2600fps through a motor cowling will convince a bunch of people to respect your property. Seen how well it convinces a person in south Louisiana one time. Fellar even had signs up warning people to slow down or get shot. We always idled by his place. That one feller paddled a long way back to the ramp.
