Striper Jig
Hello All,
Most here won't remember me as I have not posted much. I own and operate a small hunting and fishing store in MO. and have some customers who troll for Stripers in a local lake on umbrella rigs 30 foot deep. I tied these up for them to try as a prototype.
This rig tied as a fly on a 3/0 hook is killer on a 7 weight fly rod here locally.
Hope they work for these guys. They supplied the pony heads and are putting on the blades later.

Looks good! What weight head is that? Also even thought costly you may want to look up some Estaz Grande chenille.
Here are a couple of 1/4 Oz heads with Estaz Grande chenille.

These were tied with large palmer chenille. Estaz isn't long enough. There is a whole length of micro uv pearl flashabou in about 6 strands doubled over, then a bunch of deer tail, then 4 saddle hackles with another bunch of deer tail. Large uv pearl palmer chenille wrapped to the front and fox tail and ripple ice fiber in front. Takes right at 15 minutes to tie. Also, the stick on eyes have thick loon uv resin over them to help hold them on better.

The palmer chenille is 50mm long.
The original shuttlecock fly calss for the head to be made with an ep fiber brush. I changed it for ease of tying to the artic tail.
The original fly design is not my pattern. Just adapting it to the LARGE pony heads for some customers.
Not sure if these are 1oz or 1 1/2 oz heads?
