    Default WARNING!!! WHITE BASS!!!

A buddy and I was reading the new N.C. Fishing Regulations that come into affect August the first. IF we are reading it correctly ALL WATERS are limited to 10 White Bass with a minimum size of 14 inches. I hate to see it but I am not surprised.

I know in most of the lakes I fish the white perch population has really exploded in the past 4 to 5 years.
I read somewhere that White Perch eat Crappie and White Bass eggs. That and overfishing can ruin a good thing.
i never release a white perch I have caught. They become table fair or catfish bait.

Unless a body of water is overpopulated its never a bad idea to let the fish get old enough to spawn at least once. The small size white bass I've seen people haul out by the bucketful is amazing.

I remember the days when you caught white bass and we didn't even know what a white perch was. They have disrupted the ecosystem in a huge way on our reservoirs.

The best regulation they could put in place would be to make it illegal to throw back a white perch. They have that in some of the streams out west where non native trout are becoming more common than the native trout.

Maybe we should organize some white perch rodeos or tournaments.

That would be a fun tournament. Lots of fish would be caught for sure.

We do perch jerks on Wylie.
It's a blast together together and thin the herd a little.
