I use the pst's. They're limber but it hasn't been an issue. I have a couple light action bass rods also, that work well. One is an old ugly stik that I bought from Walmart twenty years ago.

Scotty, check north woods tackle. Place we get line counters. They have some 7-8 ft trolling rods for cheap.

X 2. I use (2) 14' PST's, (2) West Point 12's, 10's and 8's. They are perfect for cranking due to their fiberglass construction. Academy Sports and Outdoors should have the 8ft rods.

I prefer at least 4 foot of separation minimum. Never had an issue with my 8' pst rods, to me that's the one I prefer to have the bigger fish on. They are limber and will fool ya when they double on a 10 inch fish, but out of all my PST rods think I'm up to 14 of them now, my (seven) 8' rods I have now I've only ever replaced one tip, and it was my fault of course on that one.

I have caught some very large catfish, bass, and drums on my 8 footers. Plus some solid hang ups using braid that either the hook or swivel gave way but rod did fine. Very pleased with all my b&m pst rods. I'm also with snubby, if it's a large crappie I want it on the 8 footer when bringing him in. Good luck in your search.

I'd personally go with a 20 ft pst on each side if I already had the 16's and 12's. The twenty footers are a lot of pole but the pulling method allows u to handle the rod with both hands. I've had plenty of girl fishers that could handle them fine. Plus handi crappie the master of cranking.
