My plan is to purchase (2) Trojan 1275's by next spring and I will be set. Cranking is going to be coming to an end before too long, so that is why I'm going to wait.

My terrova shaft was approximately 48 to 50 inches long. When I would be in the back of the boat, any hint of wind or wake would turn my boat. By lengthening the troller shaft to 60 inches, this gave it a deeper and better bite requiring a little less juice and better tracking.
I hope I explained that adequately. If not, just holler at me......

Leverage plain and simple, longer shaft deeper in the water means more time on your batts.

That and Mr. Charlie yells at you if you ain't got enough shaft in the water! He can since cavitation and will ride you for having that TM to high up, specially when ain't no breeze!

Good info, I have a 60", however I don't run it that deep. The leverage thing makes perfect sense.
I am guessing as long as it's below the bottom of the boat, the advantage is minimal to go deeper?

When pulling I run mine all the way down, that way no matter where I am in the boat there is very little change in speed or the trolling motor ramping up if its on cruise control.
