Very nice rods no doubt. I now have 8 SCR 14' rods and love them. I am getting ready to order some of the T rods for my cranks. He customer service is second to none. I ordered 4 new rods earlier this year. Fished them for about 3 months. I broke a tip on one of the 14' rods. I called Ed to order a couple extra tips. Ed asked when I bought the rods. After I told him he said he was just going to send me a tip at no charge. The rods are great and so is the service.

I guess there is always another side to every story. This is also the reason for so many manufacturers and products because everyone has their own methods, wants and desires.
I spider rigged with 8 of the SC 143's this spring, and I just could not gather why so many people liked them. No doubt my hands are big enough to grasp the fat handles of the SC 143's but my wife didn't even like the handles, the feel of the rods, and the action.
Now, we did pull cranks with Doug in June, so I have seen what they do in those circumstances. But, in my opinion, you can take BnM's West Point fiberglass rods, which come in 8, 10, and 12 feet lengths, and get the same action with the same size fish. We also use the 14 ft PST's to complete our 8 cranking rods.
We have reeled in the same size cats and larger. Jo Ann has caught multiple 4lb and bigger largemouth bass on the 8ft rods.
I guess my rebuttal is this, the craftsmanship of crafting the SC rods is there, by all means, and the kevlar is a great material, but there are just as good and better rods out there that are cheaper believe it or not. Everyone wants a quality product, and each of our expectations are different in terms of quality and usage. For cranking, the west points are second to nobody as far as I am concerned. For spider rigging, we will be putting our new BGJP's to the test come this fall.
Just my $0.02 for what it's worth.....

I've learned that good service is worth the price; can't beat it.

I bought 4 of the 14' and 4 of the 14T models. First long rods I have owned over 10'. Just started spider rigging this spring so I have nothing to compare the rods to. However, Ed was a pleasure to deal with.

No doubt BnM makes a good rod but what makes the Southern Crappie stand out is the fact that you can call Ed Duke and talk to him about the rods. Also their price is awesome for a rod that is tuff as nails. I will disagree with West Point rod though. They don't even compare as far as rod tip action goes but they do have a strong backbone
