    Default trolling motor question

hey Guys been a lurker here for awhile, really enjoy this forum. I currently live in Ky and was planning to move to Fl BUT had some hugh changes in live sooo that has been delayed(I hope not for long). was looking in Dunnellon area (love it up that way) ok my question: Terrova trolling motor 60in shaft vs 45in shaft. I am replacing my terrova with a new one and just wondering would the 60in shaft be better, easier to stow deploy.itis going on a javelin bass boat that I use to both crappie and bass fish. I am 67 yrs with bad back, gettin new motor with lift assit but just wondering if not having to bend quite as far would be any better. any experiences and thoughts,,thanks

The 60" will add leverage to stow and deploy, but may become a nuisance fishing around. I have a 60" on my bay boat which would sit a lot higher out of the water than a bass boat, and when I get shallow and raise it up it becomes a pain trying to cast around to skip baits under mangroves. Deeper water when I can set it down deeper no problem.

I have a rig similar to yours and have a 60" on mine. I keep it set pretty deep so that I can walk around the boat when alone and the prop not go dry. It can be a nuisance but after having it for 6 years I can say that it's not an issue to me. If the stow and deploy are the main issue you might consider a Ulterra which does that for you. Holler at Cane Pole and he can give you the skinny on dealing with this. He's in his 70's and one of the smartest guys I know and deals with things like this himself.
