I live about 15 minutes from there, and it was a blow to me when it was closed to the public. The bream fishing was good, and the crappie was fair to good with a 10" MLL. After it closed, I went over and sat at the barricade next to the railroad tracks for a good while during prime duck and deer season. I never heard a shot at any time I went there on several occasions. If there ain't no shots, there ain't no ducks, OR there ain't no hunting going on. Who knows what is going on over there!
If you look at it on google earth, there's a good sized building on the west side of the lake with a boat ramp. Wonder what's going on in there! MYSTERY!!

Not sure armyman, looks like a very nice house, it's been there several years. Also, if you noticed the only access road is coming off Lakeview Road, seems if the state or county wanted to play hardball (like the owners like to do) they could put a gate up just east of the tracks on Lakeview Road then, allowing them no access. What is with all those what looks like crates by the old ramp, looks like they scattered around what I would assume is the caretakers property north of the old ramp, by that old metal barn?

Your idea of a gate east of the tracks sounds logical and I've thought about that, too...but who knows someone in Desoto County is involved???

Did see a good bit of land owned by the levee board just south of lakeview trailer park. Seems to me they could easily build a road to access that property, then a public access ramp?

I don't think the State has the money. Game & Fish is barely surviving on licence fees, etc.
Money talks where ever one goes.."Intentions" are just BS.. I'll bet if you got the CASH, you can get 'er dun..
