Granted this is my first time pushing cranks but I would say the Southern crappie def has more backbone but the PST worked pretty good. I was using 3 oz weights about 3 feet in front of the crank. . Interested to see which you like best. Do you think the new Southern would be too stiff for a double minnow rig?

I didn't take a picture of it but I put a 1/2 oz weight and a jig on it and it has a slight bend but I couldn't tell a difference in the action when I got a bit but I only got one before I had to leave

Have had the original side by side with the heavier one and the tip action is almost the same, just a stiffer backbone. should be fine.

Whom ever is spider rigging with me, uses my Southern rods. They catch as many as I do with bgjp's. So yes, you can use them.

The Southern Crappie Rods 143T and 122T are selling out faster than Ed can get them in stock. They are the 14 and 12 foot models of the "2 oz" rated rods. My clients really see the difference if I pull out a 143 then a 143T on opposite sides of the boat pulling cranks. The 143 will load up much more. Either are fine for any fishing I do but the 122T and 143T really stand out when pushing or power trolling.
