we think alike...I have (2) 6'-6" medium action rods with 8# mono that I am going to try next trip with cranks....also, using a 3/4 oz egg weight 2-3 ft in front of the crank....we'll see what happens....got to get a bite first to see how it works....since I am using a weight to control depth, I figure I do not have to worry about what series crank I use (100, 200, 300)....less line to reel in if I do hook one...probably a lot of flawed thinking in this but....who knows....

Bruce.....i use a 2 oz. Weight and run my speed so that may line lays back about 45 degrees
