Thread: Pushing Crankbaits

I have been using the KY rig with a suspending 2.5 inch Rapala minnow bait on a 4 ft leader, or I use a 1/2 to 1 oz weight with a 4' leader and a jig that bugman sells that has a 26 or 28 degree hook eye bend and a rubber bait or live minnow and troll it or push it. I also have just the plain 26 or 28 degree bend hook without lead on the hook which is rigged on a 4 or 5 ft leader behind a 1/2 or 1 oz egg sinker that I push, this rig without the sinker can also be long lined with a split shot up the line 2 to 3 ft and your choice of baits

I run mine with 2 ounce weights on a Kentucky rig with the weight on the bottom. I have no issues. I keep the loops short, 6" or so. I also use different sized crank baits and they work fine.
Everyone has their favorite way.
I run mine with no swivels, all main line.

Those who have run Kentucky rigs and Scott V rigs...

Any difference in getting hung on brush? Seems like the Kentucky rig might bounce off stuff better.

8 oz on the bottom and crank about 5 or 6 ft up from that on a 3 way swivel. Your gonna need cane poles but it's I can promise u it's a fish catching machine. Pontoons around here invented pushing cranks

Mitch Glenn recently bought Pico....those are antique Pico Perch that i bought on ebay. Mitch is going to bring them back into production in crappie colors along with a new line of lipped crappie crankbaits. Pico has been in business since early 1930's.....they designed and made a lot of lures back in the day for Heddon. Mitch is bringing this company back from the ground up and there will be some good things coming from them later on this year and next year. I will start a new thread later today with pictures and show you what we are working on and bring everyone up to date on PICO

I had heard Mitch had purchased PICO. I wish him and PICO nothing but the best for the years to come. Looking forward to seeing the new products and maybe some old ones renewed again
