    Back in early high school about 1972 or so we launched a small Glastron ski boat w 50 merc straight down the concrete bank a bit downstream. This was at the big locks before the hydro was built. The tow veicle was a jacked up modded GTO. We proceeded to see how close we could get to the dam. We had that 50 almost pegged out. Most definitely the dumbest thing we ever did to date. Lol like to never got the boat and car back up. I guess today they woulda put us in jail no questions asked !!

    I worked on the hydro plant when it was put into service in 1970. It was prefabricated at Avondale Shipyard in N.O. and floated up the Mississippi. It is the largest prefabricated electric plant in the world.
