The Stratos is one heck of a fishing platform, you will be pleased with the way it fishes. Sounds like you have done some research on the motor, if the compression is good and you feel confident with it go for it. Fact is, used is used and it's a crap shoot to say the least.

I want heavy! Motor has 473 hours, no new powerhead, new lower unit, 150 hours at idle, 31 hours spent over 6000 rpms, only 16.8 spent at 5500-6k.

Agree with John (Rees) in this, you take into account everything in life is a possible crap shoot, just make sure if it does turn out to be a dud completely, you can refit power wise. Statos is a good boat, I'm looking myself, good luck ducker!!

Any idea on speed it will run??? They are built to turn RPMs, 100 hrs or 500 hrs just don't mean a ton. Saw you said the compression is 125+ but are they all like 132 to 125, wouldn't want them varying much more than that. Heck, you're a mechanic, why am I telling you this.

Mechanic just told me they were all over 125. It'd help if these boat mechanics said 125/130 or whatever they test em at! No idea the speed

If that's the boat I think your taking about it will run high 70's with the right driver in the seat. It will fly even for that motor.
