    Default Apology....sort of.

I apologize that I sometimes get a lil off kilter on some topics.
We are all sick and tired of the Asian Carp disaster (I am and haven't even fished the lakes in years)...but it gets me that people gripe and complain about a few bowfishermen throwing fish on the bank....or whine about getting their crankbaits hung in a commercial fishermans net.
Who other than those two groups are doing ANYTHING to kill the asian carps ? NOBODY !!
I've been on this board for a long time....the reports of outstanding shellcracker fishing on the two lakes have been phenomenal the last few years.....but suddenly (it cant be the fluctuating water) we cant catch em so the bowfishermen are poaching them ??
For the record....I dont bowfish....never have other than when I was a kid in the back water.
Just seems that when things dont go our way we are awful quick to blame another type of sportsman.
I will gladly lose a few baits to a commercial fishermans net if they are doing something to get rid of a few of the asian horde !!! And if every silver or bighead carp shot with a bow winds up on the bank...I could care less ....thats one less in our waters spawning !!

    Carry on

The illegal taking of sportfish by bowfishermen has been going on as long as there have been bowfishermen. Period. Not all--not even most, but it does happen. To ignore it and it's affects are sticking ones head in the sand. Does it have a huge effect on populations? Probably not but illegal is illegal.

We're not talking about a few bowfishermen throwing some carp on the bank. We're talking about hundreds of pounds of carp, buffalo, gar. etc lined up on public boat ramps, pictures taken, then they drive off to let somebody else take care of their mess. Many of those doing this are being policed by their own ranks. F&W is working hard to stop it also.

Maybe I missed something here about nets and crankbaits?? I've never said a word about netters and commercial fishermen taking gazillions of pounds of carp nor have I seen anything here about folks getting cranks hung in the nets. Every carp taken and killed is one good carp. I've always taken the stand that commercial fishermen have as much right to the lake and to run nets/trotlines as I have to drop a jig or crank over the side of the boat. There is absolutely no bigger supporter of commercial fishermen than I am.

    Doug,
I wasn't calling you out. There has been posts on here where people were griping about getting their props and baits hung in nets.
What do you suggest bowfishermen do ? Shake em off at the boat....toss em in a dumpyat the ramp ....do nothing and dont kill em like tbe rest of us ????
On the other note.....I bet there's a TON more gill hooked sport fish that go belly up after being released than what few the bowfishermen poke.

First, the dumping of carcasses or remains is against law, and can be considered illegal dumping. By all means, kill every darn one of the carp, but deal with it in an ethical manner. Not to be an eyesore to fellow fisherman or future potential sportsman, these individuals could drive by the ramp and see how our locals treat the amenities and choose not to visit, or become a sportsman.
Second, when these commercial fisherman illegally have their nets in the waters without the appropriate floats and they are not tagged, I have a serious problem with that. I have had several instances where both boat motor and trolling motor have gotten tangled in unmarked nets.
Third, you have been on this sight for a long time, since 2005. But sir, 160 posts over 12 years averages to 13.3 posts per year. I am not sure where your contribution comes in at, but it appears that you reply more to Wappapolla fishing reports in Missouri than you do or contribute right here in western Kentucky.
I'm not sure of your intent in your apology or rant, but it ended with a rant that you have very little information on or about. With any argument, the line gets drawn with the evidence, facts, and the knowledge to back it up. Hence, I haven't seen any of this brought forth by yourself. If you want to call somebody on the carpet, then do it with facts. If you want to make an apology, then do it with sincerity and you will get somewhere. If you have something worthy, by all means we want to hear it.

Got it.....because someone doesn't have time to sit around and post 8 or 10 times a day, their opinions are not worthy.
    Have fun.

Ok, I get it. Auto correct got me. Lake Wappapella. If ya need your memory revived, and I believe you understood what lake was being mentioned, please see below for an example of one of your posts for this lake.
If you actually have anything worthy, please post. And opinions are worthy, but when they violate the law they tend to be neglected.
