    Default Cranking for shad.

I've trolled a lot of cranks before and have seen a lot of balls of shad on my graph, then see what I thought was my line hitting them as they passed through the bait ball. But I've never snagged one before last weekend when I actually snagged 4 of them. Not sure if they are gizzard or threadfin shad. Somebody will know though.Name: IMG_20170506_084958213.jpg

It's a Threadfin Shad. If the lower jaw sticks out past the upper jaw, it's a Threadfin. If the upper jaw is more rounded and the lower jaw is shorter than the upper jaw, it is a Gizzard Shad. I hope those were from a big lake near Heber Springs. If so, that's a good sign.

Plenty of forage for the crappie where you were. First time I have seen this method of trolling, tipping a crank with a minner. You're an innovator Bobby

I wish they were from a big lake near Heber Springs too Matt. But as you probably suspect, they weren't. Actually, they are from a small lake a long way from there.
