Thread: Anyone ever pulled the boat with a Jeep Wrangler

I tow my 16 foot fiberglass fish n ski with mine. Make sure you get the 6 cyl version and that the boat is under 2000 pounds. It works fine for the 20 minutes up to Smithville and I have taken to Truman but that was before the speed limit on hwy 7 went to 70mph. I'd choose something else if you are going to be trailering the boat cross country.

Yeah my long haul would be Truman. Otherwise Smithville. It's a 2009 Lowe Stinger so I would imagine that it would handle it.

I've had to tow my work boat with mine a few times and I'm sure that 18 foot shock boat loaded with all the gear weighed more than your Stinger. Your stinger is probably less than 1500#. Might be a good idea to run it through a scale to find out.

As long as it's the 6 cyl. Model it will do just fine with your boat.

The biggest problem with using some of these vehicles to tow with is not the pulling, it's the stoping and most dangerous is the wheel base being shorter than the towed load. Puts you in a situation where if you have to stop on a slick road in a hurry. Going to more than likely jack knife the whole rig. May not happen for a long time but it will happen.

I agree with the stopping part. I never tow with mine when the weather is iffy. Of course I rarely put the top on either. You do need to leave lots of space in any vehicle if you're towing more than half the max tow rating.
