Rickie I'm in the process of moving three batteries forward. I am have a battery tray being made. They will fit in my existing storage locker. Still there will be 4 inches above the deck. I will make a deck extension to hide them and the charger. I have had my batteries forward before and never had a problem except the weight as not as even as I wanted. If you want I'll send you a pic when I get them set in a couple of weeks.

I say go for it Rickie! you have seen mine in the front and the lund 18' also has two batteries in the front. Other option you have is to mount a few more transducers up front to add extra weight.

They will take more abuse in most situations, but unless you are running at planing speed in 3ft waves with your outboard hitting the rev limiter as it comes out of the water, I doubt it will bother them. Be sure they are strapped down well.

One tip before you go to all the effort of moving them is to pull your TM batteries out of the boat and either set them or something equivalent in weight (could be a 180lb helper) in the spot you want to mount them. Check out how it changes the attitude and how the boat rides. That way if you are disappointed you don't have near the money and time tied up in the move.

I bought my boat used 2 years ago and it has two tm batteries at the front. They sit at the back of the compartment. There is also a on board 10 amp charger. I did replace the batteries shortly after I bought the boat and haven't had any problems (single pole mostly 4 trips per month, 2500 acre lake) 1 hour trailer ride. It is a royal PITA to change out those batteries though. That being said, I think the boat rides nice with them there. It is a 18 ft aluminum w/ a 75 merc 4stroke on the back. With that outboard, i couldn't imagine much more weight in the back.

All the weight is aft in my boat 'til I move forward. If it ain't taking on water, itsa floating.

Your Lund front battery setup is what has me contemplating moving my batteries forward ...

I would really like to have the nose of my boat down in the water a little more at rest ...
