I like to bass fish too. Used to do it a lot with my father-in-law on Lake Columbia. Top water bass action is great! BUT, with that being said, I would rather eat a crappie over a bass 100 to 1. We caught several bass yesterday while casting banks for crappie. Sorry, but the bass went back and the crappie came home. We also caught several white bass......talk about a serious tug on your line. Felt like I threw around the neck of a bull yearling!

I wouldn't worry too much about your grandson liking bass fishing. Just be glad he enjoys spending time fishing with you instead of spending his time in front of a TV or cel phone. Enjoy it PawPaw. You're creating memories with him that he'll never forget AND you're teaching him outdoor life skills that he'll appreciate someday. Good job. GTT

Tell him.....Once you turn to the dark side forever will consume your destiny.....but maybe with a little bit of luck he'll come around

Them are some dandies! There are good opportunities with bass fishing now with collegiate teams offering scholarships so it's not all bad. Plus think of all the crappie lives you saved today!

My son started out that way...nothing but bass. By the time he was 10 he had mastered a baitcaster. He was the runner-up in a jig pitching competition at the Boat and Tackle show. A crowd gathered and I could hear them saying "Watch that little kid"!
I can remember all the holes in my jacket and fishing my hat out of the lake a few times as he was standing on my little deck on my stick steer boat learning how to chunk a topwater plug.
He's 33 now and has pretty much settled into crappie fishing. But his soon to be wife is all bass and used to fish on the female bass circuit. I guess he'll have to dust off his old bass rods.

You never cease to amaze CP. "Train up a child up in the way he should go: and when he grows old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 Maybe this will apply to crappie fishing too. It did for me anyway.
Thanks Crappie Greg thanked you for this post
