Default Help!!! I am losing him to Green Carp

Well my Grand son visited over spring break, and said PawPaw we always go Crappie fishing. Then the dreaded words came out ..teach me how to use a bait caster and take me bass fishing. Well after 30 minutes of practice on the bait caster it was time to take him out. After trying to still persuade him to go Crappie fishing he was not having it...soo off to the lake with bass poles, plastic baits in hand we went. I watched this young man catch a 4 lber and a 5 lber both his biggest bass to date in about 15 minutes, he looked at me and said PawPaw... I like bass fishing better than crappie fishing, and before it was over he said Paw Paw we need to enter some Bass Tournaments and The Big Bass Bonanza came up, and it was BASS BASS BASS all the way, on the ride home. I can't help to think I am going to lose my Grandson to Green Carp. We caught 15 fish 3-5 plus lbs in about 4 hrs of fishing. It tried to have him let them go but NO!!! I want to take four big ones home to show MAWMAW and Mom Help!!! I think my Grandson is Going Green Carp.

It happens, let's just hope he comes back someday. I went thru the green carp phase for 18 years (from 12-30). Something about the fast pace and the chance to catch a 10lb plus fish is exciting to a young man. And iffin' your gonna sling a bait caster all day from sunup to sundown you best do it while your young, plus when your young we all make mistakes Nice going PawPaw and young feller!!

Russ you need to change your name to FishPro. What cant you catch?! Good job with the grandson. As others have said, its best to chase bass when your young. He will come back one day. They always do...

Way to go. Great teaching. Let's hunt and fish what they want. It keeps them outdoors and out of trouble. Well, kinda. I remember some adventurous outings I had with my growing up buddies hunting and fishing.

Bring him to the coast and put him on some redfish. He will never care for bass again, at least that's what happened with me.
