I've never intentionally fished for white bass on any of the big 4, but I've caught plenty on Sardis while spider rigging for Crappie with minnows.
On Pickwick in the summer you will see big schools busting baitfish on the surface, we wear them out casting white rooster tails into the school. You can just about get a fish on every cast and most of them will have a mouth full of shad when you real them in, it is a lot of fun if you catch them at the right time.
I see the OP is in Tennessee, if you live in the Memphis area Herb Parsons lake out near Collierville has all the yellow bass you could ever want to catch. I don't know what the difference is between a yellow bass and a white bass or if yellow bass are less desirable but if all you are looking for is somewhere you can catch a lot of fish easily, Herb Parsons is full of aggressive yellow bass. I used to try to fish for crappie out there and if I was using minnows I would catch about 3 yellow bass for every crappie.

I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.
They are fun to catch, I just can't eat them. I tried after some guy told me they was better to him then crappie if you get all the red meat out. Something about the texture of the meat, it's not flaky, but segmented kinda. Anyways, I know a creek I fish OP closer to you that was slap full of them this time last year when water was up high in the river. If they happen to show up again I will PM you and save you an hour or so of driving to Sardis, it was every cast last year with minners (for a week or two), a person could catch 50-60 an hour if they was willing.
[QUOTE=KDAVID1;3393431]In my younger days my dad's side of the family would camp at rose trail and that's what we'd do in the summer....chase the schools and fill 5 gallon bucks up with them.

We have friends who have a place on Sunset Beach near Cherokee Alabama, we mostly fish around Kogers Island and the Natchez Trace bridge but a couple of times when I didn't feel like buying an Alabama license I drove over to the Rose Trail and launched at Colbert County Park and fished in Bear Creek where my Mississippi and Tennessee licenses were both good.
