    Default Spring camp and visit.

After almost 62 years, I moved from Louisiana to Tennessee this week.(regretfully will miss the Toledo Bend crappie.com event next weekend) Finished storing everything Friday and living in the 5th wheel. Will be starting to build our new house in March. Unless we are in a critical stage of building, I hope to visit you guys at spring camp. Not coming to fish, just visit. And if possible will loop the UP and visit Green Bay on the way home. I want you guys to know, it is a bucket list item of mine to visit and meet you and if the camp is not possible, I am going to get there in the next year at the latest. Pray for a smooth build for Mae and I. I know Steve would do a great job for us, if we were close. Danny

Danny I hope it works out that you can come to crappie camp, enjoy that trip in the UP. If you have time be sure to visit Fayette State Park in Fayette, it would be worth your time.

Sure would be great to meet up Danny. Will keep your home building in our prayers that it all goes smoothly. Many great places to visit in "da UP" too. Kitch-iti-kipi is a great little one hour stop if you're running across US2 up there. Hope all works out my friend!

A mess I dealt with about 10 years ago. I had this building all set for a crane to set trusses for a Monday, the previous Friday we had it all braced (as you can see in the picture) late that Saturday we got high winds.....I'm ready to go to church Sunday morning when I get a call from a neighbor of this jobsite telling me my barns about to go down!
My boys and I spent all day Sunday getting the building pulled back up to square, plumb and level. Had to cancel the crane set for Monday until Wednesday. We got it all finished and despite my setback it turned out very nice.

Hope you can make it up in June, Danny. It would truly be a pleasure to finally meet you. My on going to the U.P. is to stop at the rest area on the west side of I-75 as soon as you cross the Mackinaw Bridge. It has a 180 degree view of the bridge as well as a history of the building of the bridge and stats on the amount of materials that went into building the bridge. Very cool stuff.

Danny, while youre in Green Bay, you might want to check out the Green Bay Packer hall of fame, also stop in at the Fleet Farm store it's the super center for Yooper and Cheesehead rednecks. When you get to Escanaba try the Hereford and Hops restaurant where you can pick out your steak and either grill it yourself on their firepit or have a chef do it. I've never had a bad meal there in 25 years, the also custom craft their own beer if you're into that. A trip to the UP isn't complete unless you try a Pasty, make sure you pronounce it correctly, it's basically like pie dough crammed full of meat, potatoes, rutabagas etc. I like mine with gravy but ketchup is the norm. And lastly about 20 miles west of the Mackinac bridge is a little red gas station/store that's called Gustafson's smoked fish......if you'd like a treat try their fresh caught and smoked whitefish, I like smoked chubs but it isn't often they have them....they also have other goodies in their meatcase and cheese case.

US-2 is a stretch of highway with about 12 passing lanes, many miles of just trees and a speed limit of 55, so don't be in a hurry, sit back, relax and enjoy God's Country!

If you make it through Rapid River around Breakfast time, stop in at "Jack's". Biggest breakfast you will find around (can't eat it all). Not sure on how much time you will have but there are literally hundreds of different little things to see in the U.P. Rumor has it that Steve even has an "initiation goat" hidden someplace up there!
