Tied to loose maybe, or to much of a body.

Hi I'm new to tying jigs and looking at other jigs is making me want to get creative. I hit the lake yesterday and tried my first hand tied hair jigs, but on all my jigs , the body kept sliding down. It was aggravating but I push up the ones I could or just put on another jig. I watched lots of videos and I seem to follow the same pattern. Any advice to prevent this from happening?

Three quick thoughts:
1) Are you starting out by wrapping thread around hook first? Materials will always grip the thread better than they will a bare hook.
2) I would always wrap from the back forward and tie off at the head. Are you doing that?
3) How are you tying off the jig? Half hitches will work but whip finish is more secure.
Follow the directions I sent you in the PM. The one with chenille will work.

I use jig heads with the barb. I start from head to back then back to the head with thread first. Then I add buck tail with thread. Next the chenille etc... I didn't think I need to put chenille on tight. I will try your message skiptomylu.

Chenille and thread needs to be on good. Chenille need to be put on with a little pressure and not loose.

If you continue to have problems with sliding chenille after the above tips, you can tie in a slim copper wire before you tie in the chenille; then tie in and wrap the chenille, and finally counter-wrap the wire over the chenille spiralling the wire wraps about 1/8 inch apart. Tie off at the head.

You could also run a thin line of superglue down your jig's body and wrap the chenille over it before it dries.
Tight and back to front. suggestions above are all good. Back to front tight.
I wont muddy the water, you've gotten good info so far. Most important, keep after it. Your solution will be a simple one. My only addition is to upsize your chenille and use less wraps. I use large on 1/16 and above.
