    Default Lowrance Depth Offset

How do you set the offset on your Lowrance HDS GEN2 when the water levels change. I fish the Corp Reservoirs in Mississippi and the water levels change quite a bit from winter to summer pool dramatically.I have a navionics card.

Also thinking about buying another map card(Navionics Hotmap, Platium, or plus) what are yall thoughts on which one to get.

You can't change the water level offset on navionics. The way I approach it is to change the highlighted depth range to what I am looking for. If the lake is down 10 feet, and I want to find brush in what is now 20 ft of water, I will set the highlighted dept range to something like 28-35 ft. The blue color it puts around the lake shows me exactly what I am looking for.

I use a Navionics Platinum south card. I have never needed other regions so the plus card is of no benefit to me. The Platinum has the most to offer if your graph can take advantage of it all. If yours is a touch version, I am sure it will work.

I don't have the touch, the gen 2 right before the touch came out. I will try that next time i am out. I was looking for a way to avoid shallow water to navigate the lakes safely at winter pool.

Offset has nothing to do with lake levels. You want to set it so you know the depth from the bottom of the motor or keel (whatever is deepest in the water) to the bottom of the lake so you don't run aground. This video explains it pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GClzCf2lie0

Barnacle has the right answer. It's in the manual if you read it

You are trying to update the contours on mapping so you can find a safe path across the lake, correct? Can't do it with navionics, you can do it with lakemaster. I'm not sure about your navionics card, but does it have a depth highlight feature? If the lake is down say 10' from "normal" you could highlight 10' and shallower and know to avoid those highlighted areas. I can do that on navionics app on my phone, not sure if you can do it with the chip.

Or you can do what Bill said and adjust your transducer offset and find your own path... but that's not going to help you too much as far as safety.. transducer is going to find that sand bar or rock hump at the same time as your lower unit.

The best thing to do is don't trust maps. Check it out yourself. The mappers do not cover all the waters, especially the shallows. They just fill in the blanks. I have seen them at "work" on Ky Lake.

Just like the GPS label: for recreation only. Don't bet your life on it.
