I guess even with the top recruits, top coaches and plenty of money if you are expecting perfection you will always be disappointed cause it's not even realistic to expect it.
To me it still doesn't explain why the cats fans are so negative and in fact seem to be against the very team and coaches they expect so much from.
I worked with one guy who still came in complaining even after a win. A player missed a free throw, missed an easy dunk or had a ball stolen and on and on he went. It was always something and I would think my God UK won by 20 points...
The fact that U of L won the game doesn't mean UK isn't a great team. As a UC Bearcat fan I can attest that no matter who you are, no matter where you play U of L is just one tough team to beat.
It seems to me you guys have had it so good for so long you really have no idea how good you really have it when it comes to college basketball.
I have to say I am definitely not a UK fan and never will be and I think I like the team more than their fans do. What a shame, you don't represent your team well.
And again I say .... don't let the armchair coaches you talk to, make you think they're in the majority in the BBN. ANY team can be beat on any given day. We got beat "this time" by UL, but it was always in doubt as to who would win throughout the whole game. We lost by 3 points ... not exactly a blowout, but a loss all the same.

We don't necessarily "expect" perfection, we just "want" it. We hate to lose, and so we are quick to come up with excuses when we do. And in that close a game, against an in-state rival, a few missed free throws or missed 3 pointers is a depressing way to lose ... especially after beating a higher ranked team (UNC) than UL, by that same 3pt margin.

We have a very high standard. We're the winningest program in college basketball and we're #2 in national championships. The goal at UK every year is to win a National Championship. That has been a realistic goal for every one of Calipari's years as head coach.

I think what you're talking about can also be seen in other sports and other programs. For example, I've been in Georgia for years, and they can't even spell "basketball" down here. If Georgia happened to win March Madness (try not to laugh), all they'd be talking about down here would be some offensive lineman that just committed to UGA. Mark Richt was a very successful coach at Georgia ... but he wasn't successful enough. If he had a 9-3 season, they'd be calling for his head. Kirby Smart just started, and I'm not sure how long he's gonna last.

Crappiemax I'm smellin' what you're stepping in. I've been a Louisville fan since the 70's, always had a soft spot for the underdog, hey I'm a Mopar guy too and there aren't many of us around here. I'd like for the Cards to win every game but it ain't going to happen, so I'm content knowing they'll be ready come March.

I've said before that the only team I want to beat the Cats is Louisville, definitely not a blue hater. You'll find no shortage red haters, in fact I had one member here tell me he hated Louisville fans. I don't get it, in the big scheme it really doesn't matter.

I totally agree that it doesn't really matter. But having married a girl from Louisville. I know plenty of u of k haters also I personally support all Ky schools. Unless they are playing UK then I want them to win. I was a professional student having degrees from UK,WKU,AND U OF L. actually WKU was my favorite school. I. really don't get the haters either!
