Tunes, an occasional cold one and fishing----life doesn't get much better.
I hear that..
Thanks for the post Fishfryed! That was a good one in relation to my original post. Some how we got on the topic of fish regulations and problems of over harvesting the state of Mississippi. Lol. That's exactly the kind of information i was looking for. My "new" boat is actually set up for long lining. Got 4 rod holders out the back set up for mainly drifting but should work great. Let me ask you this.... if you're pulling 1/4th RRs at about 1.0mph on 8lb, what depth u think there running? I ran into a bunch of 1/8th on sale. Figured you can always add weight
No need to add weight.. Just put two 1/8 oz. inline. ( need to know the right knots ) If you need to run shallow use one. I use 10 lb. line at 1 mph all the way up to 1.6 with 70-110 feet of line out and the bait runs 8-10 ft. Some of the imitator baits don't run true when inline like a RR does. We also use planer boards with RR for walleye. A lot of the little tricks we use for Walleye has been used with great success for Crappie.
Are you talk are talking about loop knots? 1 RR sounds like the magic number with average depth of 6ft..... never been to the lake. Lol. Make a difference between hair or plastic down there? I always fished hair so theres a little more room for a minner if needed
You can use a loop knot but I use a Trilene knot with a long tag line for the bottom bait. With this knot if you what to go shallow just cut the line below your first knot a 1/8 inch. A loop knot tends to let the top bait roll and twist your line. The best setup is the Wolf River Rig designed to fish current for Walleye. We run plastic most of the time and superglue to make the bait last longer.
