Size: 78.3 KB. Fellas, I had fresh walleye Monday night . I have always heard folks talking about how good they were, most would say WAY better than any fish you have ever had! Well those folks musta have never had fresh crappie or striper, because my tastebuds was not overly impressed with the walleye,,don't get me wrong they were good, but I'd just as soon have striper or crappie. Next batch I cook I'm gonna leave em in the grease a minute or two longer. I've got 3 more bags to try out. I just deep fried em with house of Autry seafood breader just like other fish I cook

I like a good cajun beer batter with lemon or baked with seasoned garlic with shrimp alfredo sauce over the top for my walleye,

I agree with Bearclaw. I caught, and ate, a walleye earlier this summer. It was not nearly as tasty as a crappie. Maybe it has to be prepared differently?

Water temp. seems to be a factor. Best warm water fish is yellow perch. Cold water crappie is as good as anything.

I'd have to agree when it comes to walleye not being overly impressive. Now I caught mine out of the Tennessee River in warm weather so walleye out of Lake o the Woods Ontario might be way better, but I'll stick with fresh crappie, because they never disappoint!

unless you got any black grouper, crappie is going to be hard to beat...in my opinion
