I had a lowe 16 foot stick steer with a 40 hp Johnson. It was plenty. I wish I still had it.

If you decide on bigger motor,. They do make hydraulic steering for stick boats. It's about $1000 more.
I have a Fisher 16' 3" SS with a 40hp Mercury 4 stroke. I have had it for five years and have 1170 hrs on the engine. With me in the boat it's 28-30mph depending on water and wind. I think any larger motor would be very hard to steer. I have to use the electric trim a lot to lighten the force required on the stick. I moved the steering link in towards the motor one hole and that helped. It does now require a larger turning radius at slow speed. I will be 72 yrs. young in a couple months so that is not helping.
I may have to go to some type steering assist in the future. I love the SS boat fishing by myself and on rivers and small water, it is my second one. The only complaint I have is in big water with the small V in front it is rough.
I just went to their website to check them out. Man, they sure are proud of those seats! But, I guess if they make a difference in using your boat much more often than you'd be able to without them, then they certainly are worth the investment.
LOL, my wife says I'm a pro when it comes to justifying $$$ I spend on my hobbies, I think I may have to agree with her..
