A lot of former stick boat owners say that. So versatile.

If you decide on bigger motor,. They do make hydraulic steering for stick boats. It's about $1000 more.

I looked at one before I built an electric steer. Electric steer was much easier to implement. Of course, it is not for everyone.

I have a Fisher 16' 3" SS with a 40hp Mercury 4 stroke. I have had it for five years and have 1170 hrs on the engine. With me in the boat it's 28-30mph depending on water and wind. I think any larger motor would be very hard to steer. I have to use the electric trim a lot to lighten the force required on the stick. I moved the steering link in towards the motor one hole and that helped. It does now require a larger turning radius at slow speed. I will be 72 yrs. young in a couple months so that is not helping.

I may have to go to some type steering assist in the future. I love the SS boat fishing by myself and on rivers and small water, it is my second one. The only complaint I have is in big water with the small V in front it is rough.

Put you an Ultra Smooth Move Suspension in front and it will be like riding in a Cadillac. Until I got mine I wouldn't even go out in a 10 MPH wind. Now it is smooth as can be.
