Default Thoughts and feelings about fish cooker

We all chipped in and bought a really nice fish cooker a few years back. I know it's in good hands, but it seems a waste not to use it. I'm good with whatever meat is chosen, but anybody can cook fish and everybody here usually has plenty to donate. Not everybody can cook the other stuff. My cooking skills are extremely challenged. Then use it, that cooker really isn't big enuff to do the cooking for 70 or 80 folks. I pitched in on it as well, maybe we should draw it as one of the door prizes.

Hey Bill, why don't you volunteer to cook the fish? I'll help you eat it.

I for one don't want my part going to a door prize. We bought it for camps and that's where it needs to stay. We have used it and will use it again.

Guys, I moved this to a thread of its own for you...you have some good points and it should be discussed but just not on armymans thread where he is asking for input between chicken or pulled pork. Thank you for understanding. Lets all support and try to help Calvin as it was asked for someone to step up and organize the cookout or saturday meal for this coming Fall Camp. Calvin was the only one that volunteered to do this for us so lets back him up. I know from past experiance it is not a easy job and I thank Calving for volunteering to do this........remember, he is doing this for us. Thank you.

My thoughts....I am sure will be useing this fish cooker for a long time to come. Nothing wrong that I can see with having something different to eat everyonce in awhile. Like I said once before.....as long as I get some of Ms. Tammys upside down German chocolate cake abd some of Knightshadows Dutch oven peach cobbler I am good

As our group grows, it will be harder to do fish..It is labor intensive, and our one cooker can't turn out fish fast enough..also there will be other things like fries and hushpuppys to fix.. I dont care whether we keep the cooker or not..but I can see it being used less and less.. It will not last forever..

Fish can still be done in the future....This is why a long time ago we all voted not to have a tournament on cook out day....so people that could help cook would not be fishing and we could start cooking earlier. As far as cooker not big enough....lots of folks have cookers they could bring if we needed them. The big thing is the expense of all the oil. When we had our Cajun Fryer and Petes Cajun Fryer that was 16 gallons of oil. I cook fish for my Church and do the whole thing fries, hush puppies and fish on two smaller cookers....We put the cooked fish in ice chests without ice and layer them with lots of paper towels between the layers....they stay warm this way until we get ready to serve and put them into serving pans.....same with fries and hushpuppies....just need a little more cooking time for large group. Our problem at the camps is we start cooking too late and also people bringing fish that are not thawed out yet.

We bought it for use at the camps. It belongs to Mississippi Crappie.com, not the fruit jar. I agree with Charlie. I don't want my part used for a raffle.
