Thread: Rod Handle Wrap

Take your top hook toward the tip. wrap the main line around the hook 3 or 4 times. This will hold it in place. Bottom hook in the hook keeper. Wrap the whole thing around the rod until tight. Keeps every thing tight and not flopping around getting tangled. Feelay taught me this several years ago and I do it all the time.

Originally inteded to be placed above the handle on rods that do not have a hook keeper. Replace the rubber connecting device with a longer one. I would purchase large rubber "O" rings for a few pennies a piece at a hardware. Wrap it around the bottom of your handle (where you normally place your hook). Remove when not in use. Keeps your handles pretty and solves the issue:

Correct you are !!

You rubber band users might want to consider using a "scunci" brand hair tie. I bought a 15pc set at WMart for a couple of bucks, and use them to secure my 3pc 14' rods together, when broken down & placed in a rod sock (for storage or transport).

I let out enough main line to situate the reel between the bottom hook and top hook ...

Then wrap the bottom hook around the back of the reel ... and back toward the rod tip to "hook" the bottom hook and top hook to each other ...

This keeps the 2 hook points together with no slack in either dropper leader ...

The method Rickie described is what I have done. I actually saw it here on c.com. it was in a long lining tutorial video.

I use the foam. It is simple. It works. I don't care what the handles look like. Gives me a reason to buy a new pole occasionally.

Poles are probably one of cheapest items I have in my boat, considering all the baits, especially cranks, lost using them over the long haul.
