If the triton has low hours, that price is well in line.

Couple of things....if gas milage is important, what do you have now that you are unhappy with......most newer motors do pretty good.....gas is one of my smaller expenses.....also, I once had a FG boat mostly white....in south Louisiana, it is very hard to keep one clean.....when I bought my present boat, one requirement was no white anywhere....I got the black bottom with charcoal everywhere else....doesn't show dirt real bad.....and we have plenty dirty water down here....not like the big COE lakes in north Mississippi....also, if you fish with your wife during cold weather, you may want to consider a dual console....my wife insisted on a windshield and I agree....it gets very cold on the passenger side going 40 MPH.....that's mainly why I have a fish & ski....plus, with the extra seating I can take another couple for a joy ride...

OK..Some good info here. Right now I have a 1998 Sprint Bass Boat with a 150HP Johnson. The gas mileage is bad. But also I bought it last year. Never owned a boat before. Now I've gone on about 50 fishing trips with that boat and I'm worried things will start breaking down on it?
As far as the triton boat the guy who owns it doesnt know the hours on the boat? He lives 2 1/2 hrs from me so its not like hes around the corner. I also looked at some Bass Tracker boats. They seem nice..and I like the 4 stroke motor. Just stopping to get gas and go is great. Not worrying aobut non-ethanol gas is a HUGE plus.
Heres the pic of my current boat

Scotty, my mechanic told me the biggest problem with the older johnsons & evinrudes is finding parts....you will do well to upgrade boat & motor.....also, with the newer motors you do not have to worry as much with the ethanol gas.....it is all I run and I add quicksilver cleaner to my gas.....1 oz to 5 gal.....stabilizer keeps your gas from separating if left to set up for a long time.....cleaner just cleans the internals of your engine as you are running....that's the way I understand all that but I am no expert.....
Another thing....stay away from boats used in salt water....I would not buy from anyone along the coast...
A mechanic should be able to tell you the hours on a motor....

If you like your present boat and it is in good condition what is wrong with repowering with a new 4 stroke. Might be cheaper in the long run plus you know what you havr

I think it would cost WAY too much to do that.

Scotty, in my opinion, stay away from the ethanol fuel mixes. I know such things. May be fine for a boat, but as a pilot, such fuel may/will be a huge mistake, and in most circumstances is not allowed. Lycoming, for example, will not allow it. There is a reason for that. Rotax will in the ultra lights. Just me I guess, always wanting the best that works. Why not spent an extra 10 cents a gallon when you know you have real fuel? The Lafayette area has plenty of ethanol free pumps, as well as Toledo Bend, etc.
