Jackie to be honest I got all caught up in the rosey red thing a few years back when I just started pouring, got it very close waisted a lot of plastisol and never did good with them. If your lake is gin clear like mine the old stand by colors always and continue to out perform any other colors. Your watermelon ghost your blacks, blues, purples with chartreuse tails electric chicken, the opac Colors like monkey's milk or sand in the fall . Just trying to save you some time and supplies . I have two close friends both retired who fish all the time one is a guide the other a computer programmer both have combined 40 years of records of trips, time of seasons, depths, weights, colors ,speeds ,one has a spread sheet on all 10 of his, color coded rods he pulls with, you name it
, the colors I gave as examples always preformed . Skip on the fly tying side has some incredible pictures of live roses reds and that's what I used to match you can ask him to shoot you those pics I think he would help in that dept.

Here's one I cooked up for you Jackie. You could make it darker or more transparent by playing with it a little. I used 15 drops of bear's #405 fluorescent orange, a tiny bit of pearl, and some gold hi lite in 4 ounces of plastic. After sticking the eyes on I used a q-tip and lightly dipped it in red hi lite and swirled it on right behind the eyes on each with eyes before I added the cover dip. The two baits on the top right show the spot the best in the picture but by moving the baits at different angles in the sun the red spots show them disappear much like a real fish.

It doesn't take much to make this color and its something else in the sun. I'd give it a try.
