    Default Last weeks trip to Santee Cooper....


    Hello everyone,
    Last week I took my girlfriend down to Santee Cooper to do a little catfishing. I loaded up my boat, and we took off on Wednesday evening. We fished for catfish on Wednesday evening, Thursday morning, and Thursday evening. I normally do a bunch of jug fishing and bush hooking, but we were pole fishing this trip. We done pretty well on catfish, (by my standards), caught 5, 2 around 20lbs, 2 around 10 and one 2-3 lb channel. She had never caught a decent sized catfish on a pole, so when she hooked these she had a blast.

    Friday morning we went on a guided trip with Joe Dennis, for a mixed bag trip, Crappie, Bream, or whatever bites. We met up with Joe around 5:20 am, left for the trip, and were back at the camp by 11:30am. We ended up catching 27 Crappie, 2 white perch, and 8 small catfish. Joe Dennis is good company, and he makes sure that the client is happy. My girlfriend likes fishing as much as I do, and when she has a big smile on her face something has to be right!

    All in all, it was worth the trip down to Santee, even if we didn't catch but a few fish I am always happy to just be on the water. I will attempt to place pictures into this thread but this will be my first time posting photos so I am not sure if it will work.

    Matt--glad it was a good trip for you and the girlfriend. Did Capt. Dennis take you down the river? It looks like you are fishing in his Gator boat. Thanks again for letting Charles and I know about Capt. Dennis.

    Yep, we went down in the Santee River. That is a beautiful river, many things to see, we had a few small stripers swim right up to the boat, and large schools of mullet just hanging around. Joe is a great guy, and we enjoy giving him some business, keeps us entertained for sure.
