BamaFan's hush puppy recipe. Here you go Randy!

    BamaFan's hushpuppie recipe

    1 cup flour
    1 cup cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt or preferred seasoning
    1 tsp. baking powder
1 can 16 oz cream style corn
    1 egg
    1 med onion, chopped

Combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and baking powder. Add corn, egg, and onion. Mix lightly and drop into 325 degree oil until golden brown. 6 to 8 servings.

This is his original recipe, I believe he has changed it since then but I prefer this one. Even my sister in law (who doesn't like hush puppies) liked these.

    Enjoy!

Yep, $2 a pound right off the boat. Actually after peeling them I found that the were about 30 percent 21/25, about 30% 25/30 and the rest were 31/36, which is still a great deal no matter how you look at it. These were caught in the Four League Bay area which is fairly fresh water with all the rain we've had so the shrimp are very tasty and sort of sweet, no iodine in these shrimp. Shrimp from that area and the Dulac area are the only one's I'll buy. They are the best tasting of all.

Randy's Father's Day Coconut Cream Pie. I think I'll make one of these for the get-together in February.

Ann.....with this hush puppy recipe....if you want them real light...just add a little mayonaise and it will make them light like a donut. And if you dont use Sunflower corn meal it wont taste right lol....don't know why but its da truth.

    ScottV's Hushpuppies

1 1/2 Cups Sunflower Corn Meal Mix
1 Small (Pull Top) Can Cream Corn
    1 Egg
    1 1/2 Cups Chopped Onion
    2 Tablespoons Chopped Jalapeņo

Mix well and add a little water, a couple of tablespoons, to get the right consistency, and spoon into hot oil. Enjoy

I'd love to George but they will probably all be eaten by then. Maybe if I buy some more in the August season.

Haven't heard of Sunflower corn meal. I assume that's a brand name?

Gene, mine are the same way b/c I am catching them in somewhat brackish water. They do taste a lot sweeter than the ones that are coming out of the gulf! And you are right $2 pound is a great deal even if they aren't all 21/25s! That is cheaper than I can go and catch them myself, by the time I put the gas and time into it!
