Erin, ford started that trend a few years ago. You have to pull the cab just to replace the injectors on the newer ones. Didn't know the GM was bad as the ford.Originally Posted by Erin Brewer

I knew fords you had to tear to pieces for pretty much everything.... Ford ambulances you have to take off the front cap radiator condenser and all just to put a belt on em..... I worked a short time for medstat doin field work on em and it was terrible! A ambulance or ford period is not something you want to work on outside of a shop!

Hate to see that. I'm always doubtful once they start tinkering around, the vehicle will ever run right. Hopefully, that won't be the case.

I had to replace the entire fuel rail system on my duramax also. If I understood correctly GM had some aluminum injector parts that do not hold up. Mine blew apart with only 2000 miles left on the 100,000 mile warranty, so I was lucky. GM knows the parts are defective because the replacement parts are steel, not aluminum. Should be a recall on all of the affected models, but I doubt it will ever happen because it cost 8-9K to fix. My mechanic had done 5 others when I came in, he hasn't had any problems with any he has fixed. I have put 45,000 miles on mine since then and haven't had any problems.

I have two F450 6.7's service trucks, one has no issues the other nickel and dimes me a bit on smaller stuff (I think it's the driver, lol). Only thing I'm worried about is both are 2011's and have the ceramic ball bearing turbos, which newer ones don't. Just a matter of time, hope I'm wrong...
My next service truck will be a Dodge, say what you will, but a Cummins diesel is hard to beat!!
