    Default battery/tm question

got two brand new match batteries. i have them hooked in parallel to drive my 12v 55# minnkota. my question does it matter if the pos and neg goin to the trolling motor are hooked into the front battery or one in the neg in the rear battery and the pos hooked to the front battery??

It shouldn't matter.....both pos are hooked together and both neg are hooked together

when I had my 12 volt system I took the 2 12 volt batteries wired them parallel then took the pos. lead from battery A and the neg. lead from battery B to the trolling motor !!! now it looks like one big 12 volt battery !!! then I would hook my charger's pos lead to the pos. battery A and the neg. lead to battery B now to the charger it looks like one big 12 volt battery and you only need one charger !!! hope this helps !!!!

Thing is stormwalker...it takes twice as long to charge that way...If you just hooked say a ten amp charger or bank that way....it takes twice as long to charge it would be equal to a five amp charger. Thats why its best to hook a charger bank up to each battery.

Its always a good idea to use a bigger guage wire for your jumpers to connect the two batterys together in parallel than the wire to your TM.

much bigger in this case, plus heavy wire to tm, only three feet away. batteries in front compartment with plenty of room to spare. locked, loaded, and charging.. thanks again...

Your good James, on our big trucks we would have them wired with all kinds of configurations all running off one alternator. They all receive the same amount of charge no mater how they are wired. Like G said most important thing is having those large jumpers between batteries. Mine is set up just like yours and has worked fine for last 3 years.
