Never used the Trout Magnet. Friend gave me some Crappie Magnets in black/chartreuse. Put them on a 1/16 oz chartreuse jig head and hold on. Those things are the bomb on crappie and gills.

I have a kit but really have not tried it. I need to break that thing out.

What #lbline do you guys use? I normally use 4. Maybe they fish better on #2?

How do you guys keep the body up on the jig head?

I use a "true" 4# (about .17mm) or 2#, depending on the cover.

You could use a drop of super glue, but I never do. I just accept the fact that the body will move occasionally. Usually, the body moves because a bluegill has hit it, so that's a good problem to have.

I fish them on 6# nan o fil with a 6# flouro leader. Doesn't bother the fish.

I bounce between 2lb Nano and 4lb Fireline Crystal. Tried with and without a leader. A fluorocarbon leader will make a positive difference. Glue works but can still catch at least 10-15 without. I like to my deck littered with gnarled magnets. Reminder of a good day.

Use the Crappie Magnet double cross jig head and the body will stay in place.
Since I've started using this jig head its what I use with my other plastics. I do not miss the glue.
