Thread: who knows how to thread B n M fish pole -reel combo?

You pull the line through the pole with the wire......then keep up with your wire for the next time you need to re thread.

The wire is used to thread the line through the center of the pole. Tie the line to the wire and just run it up the middle of hollow pole and out the end. A friend of mine has one and that is what he told me. Make sure you keep the wire handy so if the line breaks you will need it to re thread it again.

hey, tanks! but i guess, what's confusing about this whole wire deal is that, there's a plastic tip attached to it and there's the same tip attached to the end of the pole. so which-one do i need to remove in order to thread the pole.i would think it's the one connected to the wire..... and if so what's the purpose of the extra-tip.

I have a Santee Whitey Outlaw model and there is no tip per say on the rod nor anyway to connect the line to the wire pull thru.
I just tie a tight overhand knot on the wire and pull it thru. A pc of heavy wire leader would work also.

One thing you "could" consider, would be to thread a piece of braid through the rod, then tie a duo-lock snap or small swivel on the end of the braid ... then use snelled hooks or tie your own leaders with a loop knot on the end. You wouldn't need a main line replacement for MANY years, and a 100yd spool of mono would keep you in leader lines for many years, too. The mono line should be a few pounds test lighter than the braid, so that IT would break off when snagged, rather than the main line braid.

I've never had a "line thru the blank" rod, but used collapsible 10 & 12ft rods back in the 1970's for fishing the submerged bushes along the banks of Lake Barkley & Ky Lake, for spawning Crappie. I used 17lb test Cortland braid & tied 8lb test mono leaders (w/hook & sinker). Though they haven't been used since then, the rods are still in good shape & the braid is still strong as ever. In fact, I used the rest of the spool of Cortland braid on a Bass "worm rod" well into the 1980's ... before buying "black lights" & fluorescent mono.

I even use braid (PowerPro 10/2 hi-vis) on one of my jig casting rods, and a couple of my 14' spider rig rods have braid on them & I pre-rig my jigs on leaders for the long rods. I tie my jigs, on the casting rod, straight to the braid ... and catch fish on them all.

My advice would be to give it to a Brother-in-Law or some one else you do not like. I have often considered selling the two I have on craigslist but I am afraid the person I sell it to will come back and find me. But if you must know. Unthread the reel from the pole. Feed the wire from the reel end through the pole with it collapsed. then attach new line and pull it back though. then chase line through the reel and attach it to spool. with out tweezers and and surgical equi you will need to take reel apart. Thread reel back on pole. Fill spool with line and then terminate with tackle and put it in the boat. Then get it out when ready to fish and realize that it has already back lashed it's self while sitting in said boat. Then grab another pole. Or at least that is how I did it.
