Jacob and I didn't get to run the lines with Chris and Ashton but here is what they caught with the bait. Biggest flathead was 42 pounds!

Yes sir. We eat the ones around 10-15 pounds and let the big boys and girls go to grow bigger. This is just my personal view on the big cats. It doesn't hurt my feelings if someone keeps the big ones either. It is awesome to see the look on a kids face when you see that limb bouncing up and down and going crazy when a giant flatty is on the line. And as a reminder, lable your gear properly and ALWAYS take up your limblines, trotlines, and yo-yo when you are not fishing them. It's not hard to follow the rules. Be good sportsmen and we all get along and have fun! Sorry I got off topic.

Shoot, I don't want to clean those big ones. Slimers. Good eating but not fun to handle. It's always fun to catch and release a tree shaker!

Amen to that! A 15 pounder is some work and provides a bunch of meat. My guess is that a 15 pounder gives you about 7-8 pounds of meat. Next time we go, I will weigh the fillers afterwards and see. A lot of people don't know that you can also get some good cheek meat off the big ones. Good stuff!
