The new bridge had been planned for several years prior to the accident that took out the span section. Immediately after that fiasco there was a lot of talk of not repairing the bridge and just speeding up the work on the replacement. I despise government and government waste as much as anybody but there will only be a handful of folks who will not be happy to see the Eggners Ferry Bridge gone.

I was curious about the need for four lanes on 68-80 as I was driving on it. I can't say that I have ever gotten west of Cadiz and thought, "Man, this sure needs to be four lanes."

What is the I-69 corridor thing supposed to do exactly?

I69 is just another interstate Highway, it starts above Ft Wayne IN and goes south through Evansville IN down thru western Ky and I don't know where to from there. Hope that helps

It's supposed to run all the way into Mexico making it easier for our trade imbalance to increase and allow Mexican truck drivers to be all over our roads in trucks that are nowhere as safe as those required by US transport laws.

I wish I had a $10 bill for every mirror that has been knocked off on that old monster. I too have spent a lot of time in its shadow and under the lights below it.
