I like the way the bridge is coming along. Are they going to tear down and rebuild the EF bridge after this one is done?
sounds like gov. waste, they just spent 1000's to repair the EF bridge after a barge hit it then build a new bridge just so they can tear down all the money spent repairing it.
Just like here, they're building a new bridge over the Ohio in downtown l-ville when it gets done they're going to shut down the Kennedy for MAJOR repairs. They just did major repairs right before they started on the new one. put in some new super structure and a complete new road bed don't know what else it needs.

The new bridge had been planned for several years prior to the accident that took out the span section. Immediately after that fiasco there was a lot of talk of not repairing the bridge and just speeding up the work on the replacement. This bridge, and a new one over Lake Barkley, are part of a 4-lane project that will tie in the 69 corridor from Bowling Green to the Purchase Parkway. Of course it is taking so long many of us will not live to see it.
I despise government and government waste as much as anybody but there will only be a handful of folks who will not be happy to see the Eggners Ferry Bridge gone.

From what I was told the needed to repair the old one a soon as they could so people could get to work without driving clear up to the dam to get to the other side
I hope I get to drive on the new one some day that old one is pretty tight for my truck
Looks like they just finished up the deck. Word is the new bridge will be opened partially within the next couple of weeks if the weather cooperates.

If I never drive across that old bridge again I will be one happy guy...that old bridge is scary. Since I usually fish & stay on the north end I usually don't get down that way in the spring but I may make a fall trip this year and if I do I'll be staying down that way. I hope they get it opened by then.
That is neat... thanks
They are pouring dividers this week. Bridge will be ready for traffic very shortly assuming all goes well.
